I recently reformated my comp, I've done this before but this time I can't remember how I got my sound to work. The card is in and everything (I don't touch the insides) but she isn't working by default, I'm guessing I need drivers or something, but which ones? I don't know what kind of sound card I have either, how can I find out? (f I need to know that to get the correct drivers [If i need drivers])

Thanks ppls.

If you are using onboard sound, find out what mainboard/chipset you have and download the drivers for that particular mainboard, this will also install other drivers besdies sound drivers as well used by your system. A utillity you can use for this is CPU-Z.

If it's a sound card however, just take a look at the model name by looking at the sound card and find the drivers for it from the manafacturer's website.

Ah, WHQL signed. It really doesn't matter most of the time, an example of this is nvidia releasing drivers that are not WHQL certifed but work fine anyway depending on the hardware setup. If you are concerned however, and if you have your mainboard cd handy you should be able to install the drivers from the cd that came with your mainboard as well.

I love how both of you failed to realize that his sound drivers were the issue in the first place and thus the cause of the problem. What's the use in using a program when you're getting no sound to begin with in the first place?.
