ok this has never quite been answered cause ive checked every post in the forum. i bought counterstrike, off of steam for 14.95, and installed it. however when i try to play esf, it opens up counterstrike. does this mean i have to buy half life seperately, because there is no way to load it without buying it

If so you won't be able to play ESF.

It's actually been answered many times, in fact, there's a thread about it going on right now.

Which Counterstrike do you have? If you have Condition Zero, then you cannot play ESF with it. You will either need the retail version of Half-Life 1, or Counterstrike 1.6. You can download Counterstrike 1.6 through Steam if you have Condition Zero, but this does not give you all the files you need to play ESF, so that is why you cannot use CZ.

yea i bought the package that came with condition zero, but i think i have 1.6


but yea i guess i'll just have to save up and buy half life then

You se thats the problem ^^

If you buy CS 1.6 you can have 2 options.

The one you nead has a HL CD-key but the one you bought had a CZ CD-key.

And with thatone you cant run mods cause CZ has some files missing.

So the safest bet for anyone is to simply buy HL and you get CS with it.
