I'm wondering if anyone could tell me what the think is second best to 3D Studios Max. I would liek to know as 3DSMAX is hard to find for me and I want to look at some alternatives.

Milk Shape is plenty powerful for Half-life.

3D Studio Max is really more for companies that utalize polygons and other things I can't begin to understand. Probably for creating simulations where realism is necessary.

Not to mention Milk Shape is what, $20?

3DStudio Max $3200 or something like that.
And I believe Bryce is around $1000?

Personally I'm amazed how these professional programs which total in thousands of dollars end up in the hands of 15 year olds.... I wish I had that kind of money. (sarcasm. :S )

I use 3dsmax. Got a copy from school. >:0)

I'm no good at it yet though. I'm still trying to learn how to build models from barebones vertex tracing, instead of shapes that are to be altered.

I just really like the quality of it.

I use Milkshape too, though. hehe.

What abotu Gmax? it's free, and it's basically 3dsmax too, isn't it?

not by a long shot.

GMax is basically Milkshape, only by better, more professional and qualified programmers. :]

I think they released it because they want to prevent any further pirating of their award winning, majorly expensive software aka 3D SMax.
