Hamppu, Resident Evil 4 will be released on the Playstation 2.

Though, their probably going to tone down the graphics (I would be suprised if PS2 can keep up with the GameCube, but I highly doubt it).

:p A cousin of mine said they took out all sorts of effects and things. For instance, when you shoot the water in the Gamecube version, you see a splash followed by very small ripples, but in the PS2 version you see nothing. Stuff like that.

Poor PS2. RE4 has tons and tons of little details like that, but some people will never be able to enjoy them. :(

lol, im glad that JLN, ther others and I could help you out w/ our arguement :p

And rommyu it figures that most of the minor effects will be gone. Ghost Recon on the Xbox I beleive had alot of grass, in PS2 theres hardly grass in all locations and the the areas that do show strings of grass the grass looks like paper (2d).

Then again, I have never really seen Ghost Recon on Xbox so im just going by my friends word.

Well, i guess all the hardcore resident evil fans got what they want this time around. This game has now been confirmed to be a authenic sequel rather then a side game, somewhat like they said resident evil 4 was acourse.

" Takeuchi confirmed that that RE5 will be an authentic sequel to the series' main plot rather than a side story (as Resident Evil 4 was), and the developers are considering some kind of a conclusion to the franchise's storyline. When asked if the game will also feature some closure between Chris and Wesker's fiasco, Takeuchi said that Resident Evil 5's production is still in its early stages, so many of the details in the game are still up in the air. "

Side Note: Ive also finally got a hold of resident evil remake recently, and i think im enjoying it more then part 4. Who knows, maybe it's the overall scary atmosphere of the game that's making it addicting for me. I know the storyline seems abit better, but not by much. Anyways, either way im glad there keeping the gameplay elements from part 4 while also going back to its original authentic storyline. I think that will sastify both the casual and hardcore resident evil fanbases.

Sounds good, though I'm worried about what this means; "and the developers are considering some kind of a conclusion to the franchise's storyline". Is this just going to be a conclusion to the main story line? Are they going to make any more RE games after this one with different story lines or is this the last RE?
I want to play Leon some more *crys like a baby*

Knowing Capcom, this WON'T be the last.

Megaman X5 was supposed to be the last Megaman X game.. and now we're already up to Megaman X8, Battle Network 5 and Megaman Zero 4, not to mention the TONS upon TONS of Street Fighter games.

There'll be more Resident Evil games as long as people still care for them.

Megaman X....6-8 had no real plot points at all.

QFT.

I get so damn tired of always fighting Sigma. I honestly thought I had finished him off for good in Megaman X5, but no.. you even fight him in X8 I believe. At least Megaman X3 did a semi-decent job of trying to fool you into thinking Sigma wasn't the real enemy, but even then it wasn't as if I couldn't see through it all. Capcom's been raping the Megaman X games ever since they made the jump to PSX and PS2. The consoles had much more power than the SNES, on which Megaman X through X3 were released, and I believe they didn't know what to do with all that power. The level design of anything after X3 is uninspired, boring and lacks detail. Same with the characters. Megaman X through X3's characters and levels were alive and sported all sorts of little details: In Megaman X3's intro stage, when ZERO bursts in and you gain control of him, you're walking through this hangar, and you can see all these vehicles in the background with little lights flickering and stuff.

Oh, sorry, I can get pretty passionate when talking about Megaman games ^_^; I'm just so angry that they managed to mess up one of my favorite game series.. Megaman X4 was fairly enjoyable because it had anime cutscenes and some decent armor upgrades (Plasma Cannon and Ultimate Armor ftw! o/), but none of them could match X3 or even X.

I don't know about the RE games, but Capcom's always had a bad habit of being inconsistent with the quality of their games. I hope RE5 will improve over RE4 and not just offer the same gameplay and just a different storyline.

In regards to Megaman - Sigma just won't die. And yes you fight him again in X8. However, if you haven't played it yet (and I won't spoil it), Sigma actually is NOT the final boss. Its someone else. But it'll become incredibly obvious who it is. OH! And Vile returns! Too bad he sucks in X8...

In regards to Resident Evil - I'm currently playing through the entire series of games again (excluding 3 and 4 since I played those just recently) and getting the whole story. But it does seem like Capcom is beating around the bush. But for resident Evil, its not a bad thing. For megaman though....it IS a bad thing.

In regards to megaman again - They need to end the Megaman and X series and go back to Legends. I loved Megaman Legends.

As did I. Those games also had tons and tons of little details: like when you kick a can into a trashcan, you get a 1k zenny reward! And you can find tons of quests and items just by talking to people and rummaging through boxes and junk you find everywhere. The battles were pretty cool and engaging, and I just love those Bonnes. The voice acting was really good (I love Tiesel Bonne's voice) with a lot of emotion and the game even made me laugh at times. They were simply a blast to play.

Oh yeah, and they have a great story :3

I heard they're porting Megaman Legends 1 to the PSP, by the way.

Yes I heard that too. There's a chance it could be done with the DS as well. There's a chance they could make Megaman legends 3 if they make it a portable.

Speaking of which, I read somewhere that they are remaking resident Evil for the DS. It'll be the same game, but it'll play like Resident Evil 4 as far as the camera system. I'll find the article later and make a topic regarding it.

o_O

Megaman Legends was also released for the N64, so I don't see why it wouldn't work on the DS. I might just buy it if it is released here :3 I hope it'll have some neat Stylus and/or Wireless capabilities. But it'll probably end up into something lame as swapping treasure items you find during your digs or something. >_>

If that happends, then it is very typical of Capcom to do that.

-Quickly ending the series (their probably goinna give us a crappy ending to the current storyline) so that they can continue to make other Resident Evil games with the elements of other survival horrors such as "Silent Hill" hence rendering the whole "Zombie Factor" kinda pointless.

They probably saw how people didn't care if the enemy were zombies or plagas in RE4 and asumed that Resident Evil can have what ever type of enemy as long as their evil.

Meh, well, thats what im predicting. I could be wrong, however. I would point out Megaman X as an example (I also beleive that X5 was the real last MMX game... but as Logan pointed out, X6-8 has no plot points at all).

Also X3 is my fav MMX game for many reasons. X4 was also a favorite, X5 was ok too.

Also, Logan, thanks for filling me in that Vile is in X8, i'd probably get it despite how crappy it looks and plays. Its sad how Megaman's Rivals reel me in :p I think Bass and Vile are Megaman's greatest rivals.
