yeah, maps are preety big, you will be able to se 2 players clashing near the mountains.
Sweet. Having like 8 beam struggles all over the map would be epic, especially seeing how big the maps are.

With the buddy system, do their have their own HP bars, or share yours? Obviously it's going to be sharing yours, and if they die, you die, not switch back to Ginyu, but a few questions.

They have their own HP bars.

They are significantly smaller than the bars of the main cahracter or other chars.

And you dont switch to the next best buddy when you die. You switch to the buddy thats currently outside. Meaning if both of them get killed by a beam you die, but if only 1 gets killed you get switched to the other one.

Needless to say loosing your main character leavs you extremely voulnurable due to the buddy HP size ^^

What do you mean. Its been spoiled already. The Open Beta has a semi working Buddy system. About 80% to be honest. The other 20% is the buddy AI system, which still needs to be added to the inteam BTW so dont ask about that.

I mean the land over the water. If it is it gotta be damn huge lol.
And if it is that huge how far can you see the actual players go?

For example in a game like battlefield play 4 free you can see far but players won't be seen at a great distance

And sure potw looks nice but i don't really have intrest in the ginyu force lol
even tho the vid was awesome ^^

tl;dr While the map can be virtually unlimited in size, the mapper has to set a boundary so as not to fry our Computers.

I't'll probably not be hardware related but gameplay related. Flying for 5 minutes to find someone isnt improving game experience :)

But as you probably read yourself the boundary is set by the mapper.
So don't tell me you know how big it is or are you a pshychic?

And tbh i hope the map isn't bigger than the engine allows to see in the distance ^^

well, I dont know if we settled on final level sized... Map makes some HUGE DETAILED maps. And he's been moving the battle area borders around quite a bit so I dont know what the boundaries are atm either. If you were to make a map, you could make the boundaries HUGE so you could fly 5 minutes to battle... but like Reptile said, it isnt improving the gameplay experience. So typically from corner to corner with turbo swoop, you can get across in perhaps a minute? Not to bad actually. Its a lot bigger than you think.

HL can draw nearly any distance really if you have the resources for it.

As for how far you can see. Thats set in the BSP parameters when you compile the map.

"BSP?" i hear you thinking. Yes we are using BSP files in order to feed the map to the map selection of the engine. Ofcourse all our BSP files are blanks. They are just enough for the engine to say "This map is OK" and puts it on to the map selection.
