Can someone Please Tell Me what I have to do.

Ok heres what happens when I open ESF on my desk top it says that it can't find a file called cstrike.exe and I don't have a clue as to what to do so can anyone PLEASE!!!! HELP!!!! ME!!!!!!!! :cry: o_o :shocked: :scared: :S

Ok.. does ESF work normally when you select it in normal HL from the Mod List? If not, it sounds like your using Counterstrike retail, ESF does work with it, but I've never really heard of this problem, but yet I dont spend to much time in the help forum either. I'd say try selecting it from your Mod List on normal HL.
Also, check the shortcut, right click on it, then click properties. Then look at the 'Location Box' and make sure it says something like "H:\Half Life\hl.exe" instead of cstrike.exe, UNLESS that is of course you are using CS RETAIL. It just kinda sounds like the shortcut is trying to open somethin in the wrong place.
*edit* Please dont double post, mods chew into you for that. Unless its groovah of course. Anyway its also against teh rules. so good luck chief.

Hmm indeed never heard of this problem, but a question remains; Do you have Halflife or Counterstrike retail. If you do, i suggest re-installing in the propper folder.

uh, if it doesnt works with retail, unistal cs, and download it again from www.counter-strike.nl, (the site is legal, with no iligal warez.

yet you can't download the CS retail from the web, uhm u prolly could, but that is something i may not tell. now the site wangster gave u is the official site of CS where u can download the patches and the mod version if you have halflife.

CS retail is bought at your local shop, you cannot download it 'legaly'.

Ai and when you do make sure that you know your directory structure

Half-Life root folder is Half-Life and COunter-Strike Retail is Counter-strike,and for some who have DoD,i don't know what it is,sorry :/

All root folders o by default to the Sierra folder,which is placed in the root(?) of your harddisk by default

Make sure you make a valid shourtcut by right-clicking your exe file(hl.exe or cstrike.exe) then highlight 'Send to' then choose Desktop

After that it's time for some editing,just make sure it looks something like this

X:\<folder>\Half-Life\hl.exe -esf -console

Where X: and <folder is where your drive and HL/CS Retail folder is

For example mine would be

C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe -game esf -console

If you can't figure out what Im saying I suggest you ask afriend who also has Half-Life/Counter-Strike Retail to help you

And yes,I have CS Retail because they don't sell vanilla copies of HL,only Game of the Year,which is roughly the same price,but ine is a different story

It just sounds like you don't have Counter-Strike, or Half-Life, you need them to play this mod.
