Good luck getting a computer to calculate well over 30 trillion bytes of information per second.

Notch is pretending like he's just a normal guy and not a millionaire, lol quite funny really. I hope he is the first millionaire to tell us what are really scams and what isnt.

I think it's a bit harsh for everyone to be calling it a scam. The videos clearly exist to get funding. From the looks of it, they want to take the technology and make it work. *If* they succeed, then it would be revolutionary. It's really not much different from any other company making a pitch to get venture capital money. I mean hell, how do you think any complicated new technology ever gets done? Someone's gotta get out there and take the risks. They're really saying "we want to take voxel technology further. We know it has problems right now. We're not going to show you the drawbacks because we're trying to sell ourselves here. We all know what the drawbacks are already. Take a chance opn uis and we're going to try to make this work." Thats kinda how VC business works. It's usually high risk, but when it succeeds, you're on the ground floor of it and have a lot of very profitable shares in the company.

What I don't understand is that they convert polygons into atoms right... That means once it's converted it would be polygon quality but atomised?

That's nothing to brag about
Forgive me, but I know nothing about this :D:D:D. (clearly)

One thing is for sure though, this tech is still in very early stages. They said the soonest we can get something resembling a tech demo would be in a year or so. So, like with all "too good to be true" things, its better to just wait and see.

Edit: Heron, it does not convert polygons into atoms. It uses atoms as a basic building block instead of Polygons, which can be thought of as cut off card-box pieces. It has an added feature which can convert real life models into atomic models in-engine.

I like how Karrde thinks, and I also wouldn't call it a scam. It seems that they have gotten some funding from their government and this will be revolutionary if they succeed. New and innovative ideas/technologies always get bashed like that. It is also not in the graphics companies interest to have something like this catch momentum. I would presume there would be quite a lot of lobbying against it.
