Lately, I have had a lot of things on my mind and I felt I needed to discuss them, so, here I go.
OH by the way, I'm pretty sure the admins/mods will close this topic due to the controversial content, but oh well.

:warning: Cures :warning:
It seems to me that there will never be any new cures for disease/cancers/viruses/etc... Due to the fact that there is no money in complete cures.
Take, for example, the common cold. This is something I'm pretty sure everyone has AT LEAST once in their lifetime. In the United States alone, individuals suffer from about 1 billion colds throughout the course of a year!
The common cold has been known for MANY MANY MANY years and yet there is no cure. You would think that we, in the 21st century would be able to have a cure for something so simple, but I believe the reason there are no cures for many things in this day and age is because of one thing: money.
The profit companies make in a year from selling products to treat colds are incredible! If there were cures, the companies would either be out of business or making hardly a fraction of what they do now.
However, there are perhaps some things that people are actually working on a cure for, like AIDS for example, since it is such a deadly and wide-spread disease. But for the most part it seems there will be no real cures, only treatments.
Also, it is unfortunate that medical attention must cost so much money. I can understand paying a fair amount but the costs of staying in a hospital for treatment for example is ridiculous. I understand that the hospitals & employees need money but there needs to be a reasonable change. Which reminds me of the movie John Q. with Denzel Washington.

Why is it that professional athletes get paid so much? Sure they are talented and it is fun to watch them but I believe they get paid WAY too much!
Take Sammy Sosa for instance. Sammy earns around $16,071,429 a YEAR! That is about $1,834 an HOUR! All of that JUST for playing a game for a living, which, in my opinion, is WAYYYYY too much!
This makes me think about people who REALLY work for a living. Factory workers for example, many work 12 hours a day, barely getting to see your family and only making enough to get by.
The factory worker wouldn't see in a lifetime what a pro athlete makes in a year!
It's so ridiculous!

:warning: HOMOSEXUALITY: Plague of Evil? :warning:
The issue of homosexuality in society has been on my mind for a long time now and is an important issue for me considering I am a homosexual myself.
Recently, I met a girl from my school, her name is Ashlee and she happens to be homosexual. We both are involved in a "***/bi group" at school. After meeting her and talking a little, she told me about some recent upsets in her life.
Ashlee told me about how the parents of many of her friends wont let their kids hang out with Ashlee anymore because of the fact she is a lesbian. Whatâs even worse is Ashlee's sister, who is straight, is not allowed to hang out with those same kids because she lives in the same house as Ashlee and [sarcasm] might be plagued with the oh-so-contagious homosexuality disease. [/sarcasm] This made me very angry; I couldn't believe that people would do that!
Furthermore, 5 of Ashlee's neighbors collaborated together and called up social services and had Ashlee's girlfriend forced to move out (age difference).
<INFO: Ashlee is 15, her girlfriend is 21>
Ashlee and her girlfriend had only been together for 5 months, but after hearing Ashlee talk about her girlfriend and sharing poems and artwork they made together/for each other, I realized they really were in love.
UGH I was so pissed that her neighbors did that! Now Ashlee has to wait an ENTIRE year before she can see her girlfriend again! Also, Ashlee's girlfriend's parents had disowned her simply because she came out as a homosexual! When she returned home her dad hit her so now she is living with her sister.
Now Ashlee is very depressed and I don't blame her, she has to hide everything that would prove she was in a relationship with her girlfriend because Social Services will be inspecting her house >_>
Ashlee is lucky her parents are cool with her being homosexual. Her mom was angry at their neighbors, for good reason too. I'm absolutely sure if Ashlee had a 21 yr old boyfriend nothing would have happened. Ashlee's mom called up a lawyer to sue the neighbors responsible and the lawyer decided to take the case without hesitation because this is clearly sexual discrimination.
Ugh! I feel like I am living in the past! All of this hate and discrimination against homosexuals is very similar to the struggle blacks went through in years past.
THEN - Blacks were killed for simply being black.
NOW - Homosexuals are killed for being homosexuals.
THEN - Interracial couples were frowned upon and many families considered them outcasts.
NOW - Homosexual couples endure the same.
The struggle blacks went through was worse than that of homosexuals in present day, but the similarities are uncanny.
Many homosexuals are afraid to "come out of the closet" because of all the things they see and hear in everyday life. People killed in various parts of the world for being homosexual, hearing almost constant bashing of anyone homosexual, etc... It's sad and very unfortunate.
