Does anyone here think rag doll effect would be cool for ESF??

If it would work that would be awsome i think.

Any of u testers think it would work? o_o

And also, when a beam is shot at u and u dont defend it, and instead of dyeing, u get blow back in a rag doll effect, slam into a wall and fall to the ground?

I think that would also be cool :laff:

esf cant code in the ragdoll effect, i think..
valve should update the source engine to support that stuff (something with the transparant modeltextures)

Well you can count on Half-Life 2 to support anything your imagination can come up with. Although Half-Life 2 probally wont be out for another 10 years, LOL

yes rag doll physics are just not possible on the scale of say raven shield

the very best u can ever do is a sven coop type of a rag doll which is not all that differnt

in the end the months and months of work dont justify it

Yeah, ragdoll effects cannot be produced on the Half Life Engine. That effect came out waaaaaaaaaaay after HL was released

that's already in ESF ... but not that extreme ... ordinary you get pushed back after you got hit from a beam ... stucking in wall will be in ESF B1.1 ...
there's also a great roll effect of models in ESF ... but I think we already move at our (HLs) limits ...
just wait ....

No, i know its in ESF the way ur thinking, but i mean, ever seen the episode when Gohan and Dabura fight? And Dabura shoots this beam at Gohan, and gohan just cant quite defend it, so he sort of pushes it away but he gets thrown back and slides along the gorund. Thats what im sort of looking for, it it could be done that way.

I know u get pushed back by the beam but not if u defend it. If u successfully defende it, but right as u deflect it away, and ur pl is like nothing after defending it, u should get trhown to the ground or something like in that episode.

Heh, you guys assume too much...
Ragdoll is completly possible in HL, I wanted to take it up as a project whenever I have some free time... The only problem is that my mathmatical background is rather weak (11th grade math, precalc), soo -_-
Quite actually you can even get bumpmapping in hl as well, my friend Jason and a few other coders have done it.

PCJoe its not that we assume to much it is sounding like ur assuming a bit less then the rest of us. I think what he meant with ragdoll effects he meant like in games such as Postal 2 and FarCry ragdoll effects. If he means like those games then you can basically forget it being like that in HL and any mods for it.

Rag doll physics make models behave like ragdolls when hit, or moved. Ever play hitman2, deus ex2, or raven shield? They all have ragdoll physics. Each limb moves independantly from the rest of the model.

"Ragdoll is completly possible in HL, I wanted to take it up as a project whenever I have some free time... "

Wow, I had no idea that the HL engine was capable of that, that's good news!

Which isn't so good, but I'm sure you and harSens could figure it out. The only thing would be time >_>.

Sounds like he wants to put it in, but you can't tell when, because they may go from 1.3b to 2.0b or maybe 1.5b to 2.0b. So just wait it out and check that ever so helpful outline :).

Ragdoll would be super easy if you have a Havok license..... :)

Otherwise, it would be a lot of hard work and very time consuming, but any game engine that supports skeletal/bones in model animation could do ragdoll.
