America's king of late night, Johnny Carson died today at the age of 79. Apparently from complications of emphysema.
Carson, who was the former Tonight Show host, was replaced by Jay Leno after over 30 years as the Late Night king. Carson was responsible for bringing a lot of prominant comedians into the spotlight, including Jerry Seinfeild and Dave Letterman, Robin Williams and countless others. His last show in '92 had over 50 million people watching. Even up until his death, he was still taking headlines out of newspapers and writing jokes for Letterman.

A truly sad day for American pop culture, this guy was a legend in late night comedy.

So for one last time... "Heeeeeeeeeere's Johnny!"

I just heard not 5 minutes ago, and allthough I wasn't very familiar with his work, he gave a lot of the comics that I love now their career in comdey/film, so I'm grateful for what he did.

Just heard this on the radio a few minutes ago, and I'm deeply pained to see him go. He was a great comedian, and brought many people into the spotlight.

Rest in Peace.
