Not quite, id is still involved with the making of the game.

Maybe because quake 4 is using a modified Doom 3 engine? atleast that what i readed somewhere X_x

id did the plot probably, but none of the work besides the engine will all be done by Raven.

another reason for quake having the doom marine in it is cos, well, quake 3 had it as well remember the marine character? he was from the doom series, so was phobos. (phobos being the name of one of the stations you have to fight through in the doom series)
