I recently had a poker night with some friends and was wondering if anyone else here plays? And if you have what's the best situation you've ever played out?

I play with some friends every once in a while. The fun level of the game is proportional to the alcohol you consume.

I wasn't really prepared to have alcohol this time, after consuming enough on saturday to sustain me through many poker nights. /me recalls his good friend the toilet.

It gets annoying when you play with people who don't know a good hand from a flop. It gets even worse when I hear the word "flush" everytime they show a low -end straight.

P.S. Anyone who says the best poker is five card stud needs to be beaten up by texas hold 'em players.

I play Texas Hold 'em quite frequently on Party Poker http://www.partypoker.com Its a lot of fun and depending on where you sit most of the people know a flush from a hole in the ground. It's a lot of fun, and its free! funny money rules!

I play hold em on pokerstars quite frequently, although it is hard to play on there when you play with play money, because people dont take it seriously and go all in on ace seven offsuit or crap like that

I just played in a tournament with a bunch of my fraternity brothers and won second place

I play at pokerroom and I agree that it sucks that guys don't take it seriously. However it does teach you how to call the bluff with no tells. In lots of poker you can tell a person is bluffing by tells, but this way you have to study betting patterns entirely giving a much better concept of who does what.

I play with m friends from my old town whenever I can. We sit around with big 'ole fatty cigars, just to add to the moment, it's quite fun.
Best situation I've been in... hmm.. pretty much whenever someone buys my bluff. Texas Hold 'Em is a great game.

Yeah, I do. About once a month now for about a year and a half - and a bit at school.

Yeh we used to play all the time at school...probably explains my crappy marks. But it's worth it. I also lost about half my chips as a result of them being confiscated.../me scowls at Mr Tsolakis.

Online poker is faceless, that's what sucks about it.

I usually play poker once a week, hold-em for the win.

<b>For those who can drink.</b>
A fun variation of Poker me and my friends came up with called <u>Drinking Hold-Em</u> (best played with beer). Everyone get's 10 chips. Everyone puts in a 1 chip anty. Each chip represents one sip of your drink, all 10 chips = whole drink. By antying, even if you fold before the flop, you still have to take at least one sip. The object of the game, is to get everyone <i>else</i> drunk.

It's played like regular Hold-Em, but if you lose/fold, you take as many sips as chips you have in the pot. So if you have 5 chips in the pot, and lose the hand/fold, you take 5 sips, if you're all-in and lose, you finish your drink ( if you have a fresh beer, good luck ). At the end of each hand, everyone takes their own chips back, you always have 10 at the start of a hand. Things can get really interesting when you start getting intoxicated and people start going all-in before the flop.

Good times ensue.

I usually have a texas holdem tourney with my friends once a month. I havent won yet, but I got close a few times. I usually just lose 20 bucks a month, but its worth the fun.

I play poker alot even online. Plan on trying out the WSOP sometime in the future.

The only thing wrong with hold 'em is that it takes ages to get down to one winner.

I was apart of Silent Bob's game where we decided to go until one person was left. We played hold 'em so we could have more people but that ended up going till very early so everyone who was still in just decided to split the money.
