GameInfoWire.com has about a dozen new screen shots of Dawn of War II up. These follow the gameplay video that went up midweek. I'm gonna keep my trap shut about the game. Warhammer 40,000 scared the bejabbers out of me and my basic set D&D friends when we were in school. Mostly because the only kids who played it had passes to the smoking pit and grew mustaches. So, here's one, and there are four full-size after the jump and the rest on GameInfoWire, and please don't give me a noogie or a titty-twister, sir. Owwww ....

This game is going to be awesome! Tough I wish I'll be able to run it at full setings, I can't now cuz my graphic card is pretty outdated.

The OP fails, there's much more and better info out there.

1UP preview:

There are other previews, but the first pretty much sums up all the previews that came before,
while the interview and the 1up preview bring rather new things.

I already have a raging hard boner for this game. Especially the focus on more tactical combat sounds really good.

Did you play soul storm?

Ever since dark crusade came out team balance was terrible.

This is still in no way competition for starcraft2.

Well I've noticed that that patches fix the balance issues.

I still remember the overpowered space marines DoW: 40k How annoying ware they.

I haven't played soul storm, but I was able to dominate with every race in Dark Crusade. I don't see how it was unbalanced. Each race is geared towards a different playstyle, so if you use them in a way that they aren't meant to be used, you'll probably lose.

I'd choose the Warhammer series over Starcraft any day of the week.

From what relatively little play experience I had with dark crusade (maybe 10 multiplayer games) I'd say the necro race was overpowered, at least insofar as moderate level gameplay is concerned. Perhaps when everybody is at a much higher level of practice with the game they start to even out, but the free resurrectable units and the emphasis on turtling yourself to superpowerdome was imbalanced in my games.

Plasma guns and their equivalent eat right through them. If you get rushed before you have those, though, you're pretty much toast. That isn't unlike zerg rushes, though.

aye i'll share that sentiment. one thing this game was not was unbalanced. over the fair few years ive hammered it with friends ive never pondered if race X was better or race Y was gimpy in contrast the most rts's ive played

The only thing the franchise really suffered from is THQ/Relics poor patch support for it.
It was basically dropped once CoH was relesed. Necrons were prette imbalanced when they were introduced,
the patch toned them down though (well 6 months after release).
SS is surprisingly balanced, although it is haunted by some pretty ugly bugs, and a patch hasn't been released yet (scheduled for july).

i remember playing a comp stomp with TehMuffinman, Orion and Lee. lee always lost when we played 1v1 when i was Orks Nob Rushing with my Squiggy pure <3. the Gameplay engine is from Company of heros so excpet no cover to survive when you have tanks and that in game
