Hi my names Aaron i'm new to the fourms but i was thinking if theychanged the game engine to something like nolf 2 or avp 2 (no one lives forever 2 & aliens vs predator 2) you would be able to revamp the graphics texture and so on and so forth.

P.S. I'm not saying they should because the game is top of the leauge all ready but its just a thought.

I think the point of why they are staying on HL1 is fairly clear.

It's either stay on HL1, which has a large fanbase and large mod community, or move to a new engine and recode everything.

It's just too much work.

Agree, but ive been reading some stuff about the HL2 SDK, and it says u only need minor changes to make it run on the HL2 engine, so changing to a different non hl engine i fully understand, BUT WHY NOT UPDATE TO HL2??

Because not everyone has an uber computer that can run HL2, that's why they also stick to hl1, it has a broader public.

We have lots of reasons...
1) Even if the code is portable, we would have to recode quite a few things anyways to bring it up to par with hl2.
2) Port the code over, how about all maps/models/sprites/etc? Even if those are ported they would look nasty in HL2
And my personal reasons...
1) I don't want to work on a Dragon Ball Z mod forever now, heh. I personally hate Dragon Ball Z as an anime, most definatly my lowest ranked anime, right above pokemon.
2) I want to move onto bigger and better things. I don't want ESF to be my HL2 project...

Ofcourse, this could all magically change someday ^_^

I agree with all that Joe has said. But I can also imagine this mod in BF1942...
Dude... image DBZ characters flying atop "Guadalcanal" or what ever the name
of that stage is! 64 dbz players in one server! lol

I personally don't think that DBZ is very good comparitively speaking to other animes. However, when they actually do fight(rather than boasting and groaning) it looks pretty sweet. This could also be said for a lot of animes though. Even though the show can suck though, you guys sure have turned it into a pretty awsome mod. Offtopic- I think when HL2 comes out, somebody should make a Shadow Skill mod.
