Right, so. I've been wanting to buy a pc again for some time now (blew up my last one, hurray!) but the thing is, I have absolutely no idea what the current best things are to put in it. Let's say I have about €1400-€1500 to spend, what do you guys reckon I should put in it? I have pretty much no knowledge on building pc's, but I would like a pc that can run games like Crysis with little to no problem (I believe the technical term is "monstrous").

The site I'm using as reference as to what different parts have to be in it is

http://www.alternate.nl/html/builder/circle.html?treeName=Builder

I know, it's in Dutch, but maybe some of you guys could help me out here? If you need any translations just like me know.

Thanks in advance.

http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/ <-- click on any hardware, and look under "Populairste producten". :) might come in handy to choose the current popu hardware.

Yes actually. (most of the time anyway) As the hardware is getting voted / reviewed by quite a lot of people who know what they are doing. If you are looking for custom hardware, tweakers would be great for that. I got my own custom hardware from tweakers as well. Heck, you can even check for the cheapest parts. Why don't you check it out? ^_^

I did, but the thing is.. I need everything. I'm not looking for an upgrade, I need everything including a monitor and a case etc. I just need to know what the current best things are to put in there.

So far I don't really have anything but a friend's recommendation of the Q6600 Quad thingie. Which sounds fine to me. XD

Thanks for the help so far. :p

I went a little over the budget, so if you feel you need to compromise something, choose what to sacrifice and I'll find something cheaper to replace it.

Hmm hmm, that's about €1600. I might be able to get that arranged. Still, I guess the sound could do a little tuning down.

Is this pretty much the best there is right now?

Now that I look at it again, a 24" inch monitor might be a bit much, heh. I'm more than happy with say, 20", 22". You're making me regret not saving more money, Spunky. Damn you. -.-

Thanks a lot man. :D

So far I'm trying to find those exact parts but I'm currently having some trouble with the videocard. The show where I'm probably going to get it all set up only sells the 8800GTS (GF 8800GTS 320MB GV-NX88S320H-R to be exact) as opposed to your recommended 8800GTX. Is it worth shopping around for the 8800GTX or will the 8800GTS be good enough? I really am somewhat of a nublet with things like this, so all help is appreciated.. I mean, what are the GTX' pro's over that of the GTS'? Should I see if I could get the store to order the GTX?

Definitely go for the GTX. If you can't find a GTX, see if you can find a GT. If you can't find either of those, then (and only then) you should start looking for the 640MB GTS. Whatever you do, avoid the 320MB version. The higher amount of memory will allow you to go for higher resolutions, and is better for you down the line.

I have the 8800GTS 640MB. If you wait a while, and you can't find any GTX or GT, get the 8800GTS 640MB SE (Second Edition). It is much better than the current GTS.

Is the SE the one that uses the G92 core? Don't those come with 512MB of memory?

/me is confused.

But yeah, if it's the one I'm thinking of, go for the SE if you can.
