I do the usual thing, Downloaded the 1.2.1 patch, etc.

I don't use steam

I go to join multiplayer and ofcourse I get the "Your current version of Earths special forces is out of date, click ok to check for updates" message. I hit OK, it says I'm up to date patch wise. I hit cancel and no games show up when I hit search and what not.

Idea's as to what the hell?

I'm inclined to agree with you there.

Steam refuses to accept my half life CD key. I have had the key for years (in the origional fold out box, everything.) and never bothered with steam because I played very seldom. Now I that I do, it appears that some one else is already using it, or it's invalid. Another copy of half life isn't a problem for about 29.99 but it's quite troublesome.

It just pisses me off that I'm forced to off and struggle with some other server software when the old one had never given me any trouble before.

You're going to have to take that up with Valve, no one can help you with that here.
