modem help???

I know this is WAY off-topic even for this forum but i was wondering why my modem doesnt work at full performance? I got a 56KB modem but it always transfers at about 46.6 kbs. Is there any way to make it work better?

56k modems do not download at 46.6 kbs...
they may say CONNECTED AT 46.6 kbs in your config however but thats not how you download...
It is different for different ISP's

Depends how near you are to your ISP and stuff... 56k's never download at 56k they download at about 4/5/6 or maybe 7 kb's if your lucky...
