@Sonic - I dont see why it would be so hard just putting pricing stuff by how good it really is, or it could go by level... or experience... and have several galaxies or whatever for beginners/intermediate/expert people. And you could have a choice of owning a ship or being one of the staff, and hell that could go by rank as well. And if you log off, theres some sort of message warning the captain that the engineer logged off, and then he can recruit... aka "beam" someone on to their ship. Or hell maybe it could even be a bot that was at the same level as the person who logged off, until someone else came in to replace him.

What is wrong with you people!!?

"Pokemon would make a good MMO game" vs. "Bah! Star Trek would be an awful MMO!!"

I don't get it, man. How awesome would it be to be captain of a starship...?

"Engage, *****." lol

Come to think of it, there's no currency in Star Trek. Might be hard to have a player driven econemy without money involved, and I'm pretty sure bartering is considered a no-no in the world of Star Trek as well. I guess you might run into a ferengi and have to do some money related stuff but for the most part I don't see it happening. Would you have your own ship...? That'd also be unlikely since A.) Nobody owns the ships, B.) You'd have to be a captain to control the ship. Maybe you'd be an engineer or something...? Also unlikely. What if you lag out or log off after your ship takes off. Now they have no engineer to make repairs and whatnot.

We'll see if they can pull it off.
in DS9 Quark was always after latinum, I s'pose that could be a money source if it were there...argh thinking of a Trek MMORPG is killing me...me want >_<

No money, that's not quite right. The Federation only used no money. Most of the non federation races used latinum. The problem I'd see with this would be if everyone ha s a job on a ship or something, it would be really easy to have to few/too many players on a ship at a given time. I'm sure they've got all this worked out though.
