Now i have made this discussion for the 2 new mmorpgs that were announced through a ign interview u can read on them ur self at ign if u think its fake =P.

The first one was Star Trek Online, Now i know we have WAY to many medeival mmo's out there, but star trek? I realize there are TONS of star trek fans out there, but how exactly would they implement such a thing into the mmo community, exactly what would u do in the game, explore planets, take resources?

Now the second one and this one i can't believe by its self its a good idea, but its odd at the same time, Now i have never been a huge fan of pokemon but it has been announced it is entering the mmorpg world as well, on the gamecube.
IGN did make a valuable point tho, because there are millions of trainers, so why not put their hands in the ideas of players, as to how they will progress and what they will train.

Well there you have it fellows, opinions ideas, suggestions post em all here on these 2 mmo's or feel free to add ur own.

Star Trek would work just like Star Wars. Pokemon mmorpg? That would be awesome. That might actually bring some of the 'cool' factor back into Pokemon. The idea of wandering around in forests and perhaps going out to capture some exotic pokemon that most people were avoiding is pretty neat. Only problem I have with it is, well, what else would there be to do?

I actually agree with Sonic. I could do the Pokemon MMORPG no matter how much the dorm mates made fun of me for it(They make fun of me playing on a private RO server)

I mean, sure the community would be crap, but what would I care? I play a DBZ mod for God's sake. Maybe the community would be full of children who haven't gotten to the c0cky age yet.

Care to show a link to those two articles? I know I read one on IGN that suggested it'd be a good idea for Nintendo to do that, but not one saying it will be done.

All the MMORPGs all seem the same now a days. I'm looking forwards to guildwars and its PvP action.

Mogwai, in the second article, it is just a guy suggesting that Nintendo put Pokemon into the MMORPG race and what he thinks would work well with it.

I'm a Big Trek fan, so it may be the only MMORPG i EVER buy, since it's on a subscription. I just hope they don't botch it.

The Star Trek one would be classed as 'unique' more than anything I would be interested in seeing how it works.

Pokemon.... Eeeh... Not gunna happen, cool concept but the thought hasn't been put into it, as there is a limit to how far the game can actually go.

I'll stick to PlanetSide. :tired:

Uhh...what exactly is wrong with Star Trek? As long as it's set in TNG times it has a lot of potential.

Funny that you should mention a Star Trek MMO. My buddies and I were actually discussing, on one evening, how something like that could work out. I think a game based on TNG that is well planned has oodles of potential. I will be following that one, for sure.

However, I don't see how making a Star Trek MMO is taking things too far...they made one for Star Wars...

They can make a MMO out of any series aslong as they do it the right way.

I think the Pokemon idea is kind of lame but it would be pretty fun to go around capturing pokemon and having battles with other people you come across.

The Star Trek one could deff work out... I dont really know the story, but I do it has to do with spaceships and stuff, so if combined with a good story line and stuff it could rock. The pokemon one... meh. Itll be a concept that could only keep 5 year old kids busy with the game for more then 30 minutes.

"Go around. Capture a pokemon. Duel. Win. Repeat."

Lol very true, but u know nintendo if they think its a money maker they will do it, pokemon is a nice little franchise so they would walk away with lots of money lined in their pockets.

I can understand they did one for star wars and it was fine till SoE screwed it up, anyways im just not a big trek fan really, to each there own just felt like sharing the info with ya, sorry if it offended anyone =P

The Star Trek idea actually sounds great... just think of the possibilities Faction-wise. You have so many races in Star Trek that don't like eachother, there would be a lot of tension. I think it would be great if it included normal combat and space combat. Just think, being the captain of a ship, giving orders to REAL people...

Come to think of it, there's no currency in Star Trek. Might be hard to have a player driven econemy without money involved, and I'm pretty sure bartering is considered a no-no in the world of Star Trek as well. I guess you might run into a ferengi and have to do some money related stuff but for the most part I don't see it happening. Would you have your own ship...? That'd also be unlikely since A.) Nobody owns the ships, B.) You'd have to be a captain to control the ship. Maybe you'd be an engineer or something...? Also unlikely. What if you lag out or log off after your ship takes off. Now they have no engineer to make repairs and whatnot.

We'll see if they can pull it off.

I agree, the problem with Pokemon is that it's too damn cute.
Take the cuteness out, and it just might be fun :)
