MAJOR WON+STEAM issue

I didnt find any in the stickies so here I go:

I have won and esf working fine on it...

but I cant connect to steam servers
so I dled steam from here

-Steam Installer: (Approx. 600 KB)
didn't work, never reached here after instalation:

cause :
I got this messege: "Unable to find Steam.dll entry point SteamStartEngine"
and I dont know what entry point SteamStartEngine means

andyway I dled one of the links to the 400 MEGA instalation
from here : http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=getsteamnow
the - hlds_v1120.exe
(dont forget that I said that I already have won installed)
and when it finished I found there the STEAM.DLL the previous instalation (600K)
talked about
so I copied it to the folder I installed the (600K) instalation thingy
and it still couldnt find it
anyways I now have 2 1 Giga at least if not more steam and won instalations
with the mod I play with
including esf

why I have a feeling that there is a simplier way to use both won and steam
without wasting so much memory for X2 times for each mod!?

and why the first instalation didnt work for me(600K)?
is there another mirror for it?
was it the currect site anyway to dl it from?
(ps - I redled it and same result)

was it gonna install steam on my won hl copy?

when it would finish... will I be still able to play won?
or will it destroy my won system to replace it with steam?????

is there a way to install both won and steam and play them with only 1 copy
of each folder for each mod I play with?

i can't help but wonder why you wont just delete the WON versions....its not like you really need it.

So...try installing steam first...(after deleting WON) then reinstall WON version (if you must)

dont forget ya need 2 cd keys

Its a weird problem, and i sugegst to place a help topic in the steam forums:
http://www.steampowered.com

That installer should work propperly even with won installed... shouldn't make a difference, and u can use the same CD key for both won and steam.

uninstall everything esf/hl/steam
if you wanna have both systems,fine

1.install steam,let it update
install hl,let it update
install esf


2.install hl
update to 1.1.1.0
install esf
