What is your motherboard? You sure it has Sata?
Is it socket AM2 or 939, 754, F etc?

Open up the side of the case, on the motherboard you should see some writing like "Gigabyte NF7" or "Asus KT266" or maybe even "MSBX440".
Or you might have a motherboard manual lying around, Or even the box perhaps? I know allot of people keep that stuff.

Or if you cant get in-side your case, just drive over it a few times to loosen it up.

*Pokes head in*

Or just download a program called CPU-Z and look at the motherboard tab.

Seems, you can upgrade to a half hight AGP card.
Go grab a geforce 7300 AGP ^.^
And another option would be to upgrade that Pentium 4.
You don't really have to many choices in that area, but I would try and pinch, and borrow a friends Pentium 4, thats at least 2.6ghz or faster and see if the board will take it. (I'm not aware of dells processor upgrades).

And if you have under 512Mb of ram, you will need to upgrade that as well.
^.^
Some of that you could pinch, and borrow from friends and family, Like the ram, and the processor, Which helps cut down on costs ^.^

Edit: seems you can upgrade the processor as long as you keep to a 400Mhz FPS pentium 4 things should be good.
I know you can pick up 2.8ghz processors from ebay etc rather cheaply these days.
