Keeping Mellee target

i've been playin ESF a lot latley and one thing that annoyed me was that when you changed attacks, you lost your mellee target. I think it would be cool if when you switched attacks, you're mellee target would still be selected for 4 seconds or so. This would be usefull so for example vegeta can shoot a renzaku, and while the other guy is blocking, quickly change to mellee and swoop in without worrying about having to target. It would make some cool stratagies
