My only comment about IE is that it's a worthless peice of crap. Lets in so many spyware files and crap. Anyways, I have fireox now, and i want to get rid of IE Totally so that i cannot be reminded of its crappyness. Well actually, i want it gone because i keep my computer clean of what i do not use.

Well, if you ask me IE is a crucial windows proces, if you somehow manage to flush it down, windows will no longer work. I'm not an expert, so i might be wrong.

My friend told me he got rid of IE. I don't know if he totally physically removed it or just made it so it wouldn't work, but I checked and it was gone.

You can't remove "explorer", bit I dont see a reason why IE can't go. I'm pretty sure it can be done.

half the stuff windows uses, is based on internet explorer or has internet explorer as a curucial string..

you can make firefox your default browser so IE just gets loaded with those windows processes, but you cant remove IE, just cant

I think explorer is a crucial program for Windows to funtion correctly, but you can get another program for internet browsing if that is what is giving you a hard time.

Somebody said how to do it in one of the Firefox discussion threads awhile ago... I can't remember who.
It sounded like you can do it, but Windows doesn't like it.
Just make Firefox your default browser and let IE sit on your HD unused. That's what I do.

Gah.. Microsoft seriously needs to put some effort into make a new IE. They are losing customers, NO ONE who's smart uses ie for all of its flaws and security risks. "Apparently" They are working on a 7.0 that will have stuff like firerox and such

..thank you for the news update captain obvious..That isnt helping me find a way to at least make IE lay dorment perminantly and let me use other parts of it for my progs to work. (Example, making it so the browser wont open anymore on msn email)

Like I said, my friend did it and he didn't have too many problems, all you need to do is any program that is from windows (for example windows media), just use a better replacement program (in this case winamp). Make it the default, windows shouldn't complain too much.

I see that guy tomorrow, Ill ask him how he did it =)
