improveing Jump-wall

tonight I was playing on the map "esf_city" and after playing for a while i tryed to escape wall-jumping and I noticed that it would be cool if u could do wall-jumps this way


instead of...



I mean it would be cool to do the both of them :]

To a certain extent you already can. Just hold the direction down you wanna walljump to while hugging to the wall, and you propell into that direction.

Well, actually, by using the HL physics system, you can turn in mid air quite easily with practice- try this. After wall jumping, turn left with a slowish, fluid motion, and hold your strafe-left key. ("A" by default.) You'll notice you turn in that direction- just be sure NOT to hold your move forward key! ("W" by default.) You can do that for both motions, and with a little practice, it becomes a piece of cake.

So, you can already do this with patience. :)

Yes but his idea is lot more smoother and the animation would be different. IT was called the "triangle jump" in sonic heroes and it would add to the non-flying parts of the game. I would like to piggy back on this idea.

You know how when you get slammed into the ground, you can jump up, to the side forward, or backward? Well, while pushing in pre-wall jump, you can jump quickly to the left , jump quickly to right, or quickly downward.

Also, if you sooping downward, and then stop swooping and are falling real fast and you are holding spacebar, you should go into a crouch position and be able to do a quick jump in any of the 5 directions

well i was playing that game, sonic heroes with my little brother last weekend if you guys have ever played that for game cube sonic has that cool wall jump thing it would be better if you propel yourself forward like that instead of arching in the air

well i like that idea it'll make a huge edge in gameplay

That move where Sonic or that Chameleon... ninja... guy kinda grab onto the wall for 3 seconds and fall off unless you jump off to another wall? The current wall jump animation could be used for the wall hold but maybe the swoop one would work nice for going off.

it's a good move yes, that makes use of the wall-jump.
i would also sugest an quicker jump, the current one is realy so slow that it almost tels you"quick, frag me".

yeah how about you can only do this kind of wall jump when your holding forward and you came at the wall from an angle

thing thing i would like to see added to wall jump could be a sorta "Super walljump" , you do a wall jump , charge it , and then you wall jump outta there really quickly (like a swat sorta style if u know what i mean) , and if there's another wall , you swat of that aswell , it's lasts for however long it was charged for , or could be like this

in green , push plus 3 swats , blue 5 swats & red 7 or 8 swats
