Ok, IRC there was a heg argument, basically it was everyone vs SS about what was better, IE or FireFox.

State your opinions on which is better, feel free to debate and what not, but don't flame anyone, and if the debates turn into heated arguemtns, I will crack skulls.

Let the IE massacre begin. ;)

Please don't post saying, "oh, firefox is crap", unless you've actually TRIED it.

Otherwise, your opinion means jack.

Mozilla Firefox > IE ...

Firefox is better than IE because:

  • No pop-up ads
  • No automatic javascripts (just for harSens :p)
  • No automatic spyware installed
  • No image scripts (jpeg viruses)
  • Tabbed windows (A lot more organized)
    The list goes on..

IE is the opposite of what's good about Firefox, you get pop-up ads, automatic javascripts, spyware gets installed, doesn't block image scripts, no tabbed windows... so I vote Firefox by a long shot.

-So for those of you who don't have Mozilla Firefox, I strongly suggest trying it out.

For the bulk of people IE dosn't work nearly as well as firefox does / would, so you should change to something that (for most people) will work alot better :)

I used mozilla for about 4 hours until I went to my school's Political Science course page to check my quiz marks and the DHTML drop down menu's didn't load so after about 5 minutes of waiting I uninstalled it.

I don't have spyware, I don't go to websites that have more than 1 popup anyways, and I'm not gonna cry about it when it comes up. I have a virus scanner with constantly updated definitions, meh, IE works fine for me, I'm gonna keep it.

I should stick to I.E because it works perfectly for me. So that's what I will do!

Why should I change to something else because other people have had problems? o_O

At least try it. I mean, even Mystix used IE up until 4 nights ago (I think it was 4), when I convinced him to try out Firefox. Now he loves it.

And it takes like 20 seconds to install, and it doesn't remove IE or anything.

As for problems with DHTML, I haven't noticed any yet.

Some sites do look different, mainly because Firefox follows the HTML standards more strictly than IE.

You have problems too, you probably just don't know it.
Leave it that way, if it ain't broke don't fix it :p, if I can't see the problem, it doesn't exist. IE works fine, and I'll stick with it, I tried mozilla and I thought... shmeh, I'll stick with I.E.

I never said you should change it. I think you should try it.
As a general rule, most people would probobly prefer firefox if they actually tried it. Had someone told me to use firefox 2 weeks ago I would have told them to shove it. Then I actually tried it (after reading one of kurts techno-geek posts :)p)) and I havn't used IE since, because firefox is superior. Superior browser for superior users I say! :D

Don't change if you don't want to. I'm just saying give it a shot, you might be surprised after a day or two of use. (it gets even better after you start customizing it :D)

If you go to Options then you can choose a website in which you don't want FireFox to block popups, like your school website ;).

Go to: Tools > Options... > Web Features > Add Site...

FireFox > IE

Other than the fact it takes up more RAM (which I have a decent amount of, being 512) I think FireFox's features just make IE look like nothing.

It's really easy to use because it is visually set up like IE, has a built in Google search bar in the menu. It converts all your IE favourites, lets you add the plugins you want and more :D.

Firefox is better than IE because:

[*] No pop-up ads
[*] Tabbed windows (A lot more organized)
There are IE plugins that do this for you. By example MyIE2. I don't really like Mozilla's way of tabbed browsing, Opera has implemented this in a much neater way IMHO.

[*] No automatic javascripts installed
Install Javascripts? Obviously you don't know what a javascript is?

[*] No automatic spyware installed
Well, if you don't visit too many porn site and don't click yes on every popup, i doubt IE will install those for you. You can always disable ActiveX if it does.

[*] No image scripts (jpeg viruses)
jpeg viruses??? WTF, never heard of those. Source?

I'm not a die-hard IE fan, but with the right plugins, IE works fine for me. I've never tried FireFox, but the last time I tried Mozilla, it was slow as hell. If you want a fast browser, try Opera.

Ask Kurt about that, he's the one who told me all these things. Oh and about the javascript install thing or whatever, I fixed. :p
