I just downloaded ESF and i don't know how to start it up so can anyone help me out?

if you mean, get into screen etc.
make a shortcut to your desktop and place this in your file properties thing: yourdrive:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game esf
if you don't want that, start half-lif, goto custom game, select esf, and activate.
