Hope someone can help with this.
Bought halflife the other day, and decided to make my own model for my favourite mod.... Heres my first attempt...Anyone recognise her?

I have two problems, when i try to assign vertices to the imported skeleton, the animations get seriously screwed....

In the tutorial, it suggested that it could be that i moved the bones while attaching, but im pretty sure i didnt.
Could someone give me a quick rundown on how to assign vertices to the bones/joints...
Do you pick the verts surrounding the joint, or the verts that are aligned with the bones connected to the joint??
A thourogh explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Also, there are faces in the model that do not smoothly connect to the nearby faces. although they were created the same way that the smooth faces were. Is this just a matter of the angle that they are placed at, or is there a way to create smooth transitions between faces.

well for assigning it ain´t that hard .
dunno what tutorial you took but the joints ont the skele work like...well JOINTS? xD
you just have to think, your rotating the joint and which part should move when you rotate it...hard to explain when your english sux as much as mine xD
and for the animation problem im pretty sure you DID move 1 or more bones by accident. load the skeleton into the model again and assign again ^^

for the smoothing errors you have to weld your vertices*ctrl+w* if i remember right .if it wont go any smoother turn on auto smooth in the lower right and try again .. if it then also dont work then the vertices are not snapped togehter then you should selsect the vertexes and use *ctrl+n*

hope that helps its been ages i used MS3d So im not sure of all stuff xD
