ive always wanted to play mods so i downloaded esf.i also downloaded halflife i updated it to the newest version and all of that.but i cant play esf whenever i run it i can only see the following options:configuration,multiplayer,read manual,readme,console,mod listings,and quit.i havent even played it yet please help

Welcome to the forums. =)

Once you have installed ESF in the proper directory, you can either use the desktop shortcut made during the install to start it, or go to CUSTOM GAMES and ACTIVE having the ESF mod selected.

You can also make a new shortcut pointing to the HL.EXE file with the added parameters -console -game ESF (where ESF is the directory name of the mod).

Once you are in the game, go to MULTIPLAYER > INTERNET GAMES and UPDATE to get a fresh list of servers. Once you have them, select one and join it to play online with other players.

I cant join a game it says halflife cd code invalid maybe its cause i downloaded halflife.Do i have to be online in order to play esf or can i just start a new game like in halflife?

ESF Is multiplayer although you can download bots and play LAN
