If this doesnt go here then movie it olz but i installed esf into day of defeat retail (as that can play mods too) but when i loaded it the esf screen wasnt their it was half lifes splash screena nd their was no sound, also it didnt show any keys, so does this mean beta 1.1 wasnt supported for dod because dod can play any other mods fine

you fucked up your shortcut. go into any of your mods that work, go to mod viewer. click esf. click activate. click done. and your set, i think u can figure it out from there

U sure that other mods work fine?! cuz from what i read in dod forum, dod retail wasnt made to suport mod.

everything works now cept for the splash screen its still the same

Hmm, you can try to reinstall HL, i had kinda the same thing a while ago, but then with all my mods...
I removed HL and the mods, and reinstalled them again => FIXED
