the J stands for Jin which means man...therefore

SSJ3 = Super Saiyan Man 3 or Type 3 whatever u want to call it. I read the manga when i was a kid and that was what it was always called in original Dragonball

Cyfore basically sums things up.
SSJ= normal version of ssj. Big golden hair. Takes a lot of time to transform on first occassion.. after that.. it's pretty quick.
Ussj= Just some bulky messed up version of ssj. Their hair get's spikyer and arms enhance.
SSJ2= The form of ssj that gohan is known for. Their hair gets longer and more spikey and lightning around the aura.
LSSJ= Legendary ssj. This is no form of ssj. Just a classification. Brolly is known for this because he became one before Planet Vegeta was destroyed.
Hope that sums things up as well =D
