red envelopes, eh? forgive me for being the stupid white-boy that I am, but could a little explanation of the tradition of this event be posted?

Anyways the red envelopes are presents we recieve at chinese new years given to us by friends and family - filled with money! heheheheh

yeah i think i spelled that wrong, its gong xi fa chai for mandirin
and more like gong hai fat choi for cantonese :p woo gotten so much red evenlops already, ill use this years money to buy me a new hard drive \o/

Its supposed to be random though its up to the person who gives the envelope to you.
