halo is better, it's just that.
hl2 is so mutch spoiled and showed so mutch that i isn't new anymore, the game is the same with just a lil inprofmend in 3d and storry.
halo makes the storry better by just continuing the story from the time that halo wass blowed in peaces, the grabits are better that the last one, the multiplayer suport is way better now becours you can even choose an covenent to play with and the weapons that are normaly not avalible can be used now.
there are monsters added in the covenent's team and you can even go play around in the level of your choise.
halo2 has some misions that must be done carefully to not be spotted, the game keaps his oritionaly whitin the style of enemy's and weak spot's.(like when you melee an elite in his back makes him dead without any fight)

First of all, don't pretend it's "a fact" that Halo 2 is better.

So you're saying that there's "nothing new about HL2" because we've already seen some videos? Don't make me laugh. Oh wait, you already have.
You're even saying HL2 will be the same game as the original. The new physics engine makes just about everything in the game interactive, so the gameplay won't be all that similar. Can't say that about Halo 2.
"The 3d is a little improved"... right... I'm not even going to comment on this.

Wait wait wait, HL2 is the same game with improved 3D, and a new story according to you. But... isn't Halo 2 just Halo with improved 3D and a new story? OMG! THE TRUTH COMES OUT! Yah, your argument just got killed, sorry.

You're making it sound like Halo 2 is an original game, which we all know it isn't, sorry champ. You're completely dismissing the fact that HL2 uses an entirely new physics engine, hugely improved graphics, just look at the character models, and don't forget all the mods that will be coming out making replay value 10^Jesus.

I'm not saying HL2 is better than Halo 2, or vice versa. But HL2 isn't even out yet last time I checked.

Ive seen you saying some stupid **** before, but this one I have to comment on.

HL2 is just 3D improvements and some addition to the story? Get real. Major 3D improvements, amazing physics, very interesting gameplay (The whole squad thing, the ability to control the ant lions, vehicles, and much more we probably havent seen yet) thats probably going to kick some major ass, its on the PC, and im sure there are those little things in the game we havent seen yet that complete and wrap up the game.

Halo 2? Here is where your claim is real - 3D has been worked on, and the development of the story. Theres nothing really new about the game that will make it all revolutionary and what not, just some worked on multiplayer, which actually reminds me - HL2 = mods, again, dominating multiplayer.

HL2 is better than Halo 2, atleast facts-wise. Cant wait six more ****ing days.

While HL2 is a better game, i hope, Halo 2 sold 125 million copies in the first 24 hours making it the most played game in the world. and that was just in America!

Now that i've played both i'm never going to change my mind, Half-Life 2 takes the crown in every aspect, except that Halo 2 looks more fun in the traditional 4-way Xbox drunk post-pub CTF matches. I'd rather do that than fire up HL2 over the LAN (also 4-way).

But this thread is about the games themselves not what-to-be-played-when-by-who, and Half-Life 2 has a better story, better control sytem, better sound (Dolby 5.1 surround full support baby!) better *sigh* graphics, better physics, better textures and better mod support. And a level editor, and automatic patches via Steam. And you don't have to pay for online support unlike Live. Saying it's got some minor improvements over Half-Life 1 is like saying a car has some minor improvements over the hamster wheel. Besides, Halo II didn't change that much from Halo, HL2 is a freakin' revolution, and in two days you'll see that.

I've played Halo 2, I have beaten it, and I can say that it wasn't great. It was an average sequel, but ntohing ground breaking. Wow, you can hold two weapons at once (is this really THAT innovating?) the graphics are good, but so what? The gameplay had nothing.

Melee was decent, but nothing to jizz over. The actual game was pretty easy, and it's ending left me with an emptiness, a little void that could have been filled with a solid ending. Halo 3 by the way hasn't been confirmed, infact last I heard, it was not planned. If someone has an article proving otherwise, go for it.

Now, Half-Life 2 has a groundbreaking new engine (the physics, and character expressions are top notch. Best out their). The AI is apperantly very sexy, and cool. The ability to mod it makes it THAT much better, plus the length of the game, and the story is very intruiging.

Think of how much fun you had with HL's multiplayer stuff, now imagine that on a new engine, full with real physics, and crazy guns. It'll blow your load.

Just look at the poll though, it shows you how much people are expecting out of HL2. It isn't even out yet, and people like it better then Halo 2, hahaha.
