Half life enigne comes from q1 and q2 PLUS valves additons...its really messy.

Second, the HL engine is just fine!! In fact, in my opinion, it is better than the q3 engine!! HL has a much better netcode, and it can be handled by most computers without lag!!

Have you looked at the hl sdk? Its hack city you want to talk about easier to code look at the q3 sdk...
