Im not sure how they are different. They all dress alike, making them the same as every other goth out there. Kinda removes the individuality part. I dont care much for gothics.

Well.. I don't like the "follow the trend" Goths. They SUCK.

If you go to a gothic and ask why they are goth, and they say "Why the **** do you care?" then you've got yourself a real one. :D

The trend ones wear the makeup, and act depressed and alone all the time >_>.

living in A town full of goths, friends with goths, and being one, i find it hard to not like them, apart from the few degenerative folk who just sit in a corner and are less talkative than a brick wall and moan about self harming, suicide, satan and anything else you would expect from a suicidal idiot, but i guess theres always people who give a bad name to certan groups of people, then again, its only human to be steriotypical, either way, try not to bash about how ghey they are and stuff until you meet and talk to them, possibly the most chatty bunch i know, remember, WE WUBS YOUS! :|!!!

Heres a good question:

Who cares?

As far as I'm concerned, its another group of people crying out for attention. No one cares about you, the way you look, or the way you live. No one honestly cares. Get a life.

I've got nothing against anyone, until they do something stupid, such as cry out for more attention. I hope you never wonder why people "hate you" and such.

Eh......they don't bother me. I'm not here to judge them or judge their style of subculture. I'm content to judge them by their character alone.

I don't believe you have the right to flame people for their opinions. If they aren't fond of a particular group of people, or the image they present, that is none of your, or anybody else's business, and flaming them for it is worthy of a warning.

Watch it.

Goths piss me off. Everytime I see one, I want to put them out of their depression filled misery, especially the fake depressed goths, who jump from social trend to social trend trying to define themselves.

I don't really understand the whole goth movement, just seems like another trend to me. Unfornately, one that seems like is isn't going away anytime soon.

I have a friend who's goth, well, normal friend turned goth. I'm not gonna run out on a friend just because they chose a different lifestyle. And I asked them, what is goth to you?

Their answer can be summed up by one word, aesthetics. The great goth movement, as my friend described, is completely based on white makeup and black clothing? Is that the only thing that makes you so "different" from everybody else?

Can't stand goths, I think I've pretty much summed that up.

Now to turn this thread into a positive conversation...

I believe that someone's appearance should never matter, but there personality and what actions they take, should. Gothics obviously just like the color black. I also think that these so called social cliques (i.e preps, jocks, nerds, goths, emos, punks) are terrible stereotypes that alienate people from each other.

It's one of the many reasons why High School is such a social nightmare, for anyone... period.

People shouldn't try to judge someone based on what they see... but what they know. I mean... so what if this guy/girl wears a lot of black, so what if this guy/girl wears a lot of abercrombie and fitch, so what if this guy/girl wears a star wars shirt. It doesn't give you the right to judge him/her, your opinion completely based on what he/she is wearing.

A certain guy/girl could have 20 tatoos, 5 piercings, and a mohawk... and this guy/girl could probably be the nicest person you'll ever meet, and you'll never realize that because your too busy letting the world's social stigmas control how you think.

Honestly, this social prejudice is just as bad as racism. There is no point in it at all.

Goths who live here are mostly ghey "literally". They just erk my nerves how they talk like a male version of a woman. "Oh my gawd, that is so like wroooong ah." They hold their sylables, and some walk like wemon. I don't "hate" them, just "dislike" them for blaming others for their failures in life. You don't have to be goth to be different. I dress how I want to dress (even if it is just custom air-brushed white-tee's and baggy jeans. Hey, it's all I can afford." I act how goofy I want to act and don't give a damn who likes it or not. It's not like I'm going to see them for the rest of my life anyways. I'd rather hear a response like "Oh Iceman? Man he's crazy. Did you see the funny stuff he pulled the other day?" rather than "Oh Iceman? Yeah I know him. He's just like everyone else around here."

I don't know, it could just be me.

Btw, hello Hwoarang :D

you my friend have just described a mime lol and yes i am a goth, and proud of it. ussually any "goth" you meet will have some stupid stupid reason for being one (if any) like they had one girlfriend or boyfriend leave them for no reason.....which imo is something to get over within a couple of months.....i could be wrong but w/e any way I am the only goth in my group of friends lol i have one other friend who claims to be goth but shes just not lol any way with that all said it is a nightmare for being in school with everyone judging you for what you wear and not who you are. i used to be one of the hated and picked on but after my friend who lives next door (he was pretty popular in school) asked a few people why they did not like me (cause he asked them if they knew me and they said they didnt like me) it was for no reason or because so and so doesnt like me.....stupidity. my friend just turned it around and said get to know me and before it was all said and done i always ignored them as ussual and they did the same eventually and i talked to them rarely but nothing big lol

mabey its a bit different from where i am but the more gothic looking type people i hang out with dont particularly like labels. some of them actually make fun of the fake goths "omg im to goth to be out in the sun"

and as for the femanine thing yes there actually are alot of gothic type people who walk and have femanine gestures. i believe this something to do with the fact that alot of gothic type people like the idea of androgeny.

really i cant say if i like goths or not because each person is different. i like some and cant stand others

Experiences I have had with goths.
- While walking past a group of goth's smoking, they blatantly blew smoke in my face. (ooh, you know you're a badass when!)
- Saw a few younger goths, looked fourteen maybe, harassing some old couple walking down the street.
- My friends car was broken into, by goths, we know because they spray painted "Gothic Life" on the passenger side of the car.
- There's a group of four goths that hang out in the mall downtown, that I used to see all the time when I actually went to that mall. They'd sit in the food court, throwing food at people, swearing loudly in front of people with young children, and generally just being overly obnoxious until they would be asked to leave.
- A friend and I were walking back from a night lecture to our residence when a group of three goths asked us if we knew where we could get some weed. When we told them no, they followed us, bad talking us just loud enough so we could hear them, until we got back to our residence. And even then, they lingered around in front of the building for 15 or 20 minutes asking everyone who came out of the building, until I guess they gave up and left.

I'm not saying every goth out there is like this, before you go and pull the generalization card. I've just never met a smart one, or someone who didn't have a bull**** reason for dressing like a vampire, and until I do, my opinions stand.

i'm worried about this thread. replace the word goth in: black/white. and you get a racist thread (and honestly I don't see why this is different, only reason i'm not closing this, is because an admin and fellow moderators already replied in a normal way in the thread.). thats why we should be watching this thread closely.

I have nothing against goths, I have nothing against no one. we all are here on earth to live, live the way you wanna live. just don't bother me about it basically ;).

*EDIT*:these last 3 posts were made almost at the same time. and therefore I did not see them when I replied. however I do see them now.

and now it's closed.
