Smith is correct on this and the reason why I wouldn't go with a cross fire chipset is because I wouldn't need a second video card. I heard from a reliable source that having a second card can sometimes slow down your computer.
Only in specific cases though. I don't want you to think by my post that having a second card wouldn't be worth it when you're playing in the highest detail settings possible, because it would be by far. But if you're going to be playing at a more reasonable resolution and antialiasing/anistropic filtering settings, then one card, especially the X1900XTX, would be more than enough for you.

Well, I would be playing on max settings for the game and maybe have the Antialiasing/anistropic be in the middle. Its weird for me, i sometimes dont' even notice the difference when its on.

It's more or likely all coming down to driver based levels these days. ATI are releasing drivers monthly now and getting a lot of issues solved plus some a few performance boosts here and there. The whole point of getting a crossfire mainboard is so that you cna add a 2nd card later, witch in turn can save you money, however you need to make sure you have a good psu that can handle Crossfire/SLI. Drivers these days are being optimized for dual core chips and both nvidia's & ATI's Dual card solutions aswell. One thing is for sure though that getting a dual core chip now will be better then going out and purchasing a new single core chip now.

If you're playing a fast FPS, then antialiasing doesn't matter as much, as since things change so much so fast, your eyes create their own natural blurring.

Jesus, how the hell do you guys know so much.... I hate being a n00b at times.

Ok so I was thinking about this... We all know that the ps3 gets released in November, right when Halo 3 gets released also. Well they said that they would release the cell processor and video card out for pc's a couple months after ps3's release. So my question is this, should i just wait and go ahead and get the cell cpu and video when it gets released next year?

No. Cell is not the greatest processor(s) around, and the X1900XT is fine.

I view two major hardware sites regularly (banned from one recently due to using adblock software, heh). That's how I know the hardware side of things. Software is another matter, though. [sarcasm]The truth about Overlord is that he reads what I type and then rephrases it again down the road =P.[/sarcasm]
