Going back to main screen?

I've got a problem with the new Beta Final Build.

Downloaded and fresh installed, everything seems to work fine, but when I try to start a game, no matter the settings (of the server) or the map, right when it's done loading and should go to the game, it just goes back to the main screen. The music stops though and I can try it again, with the same effect.

I'm using original Steam and Half-Life, and had no problems with the earlier builds of the Open Beta.

Also tried it with D3D and OpenGL. Neither is working.

Has anyone experienced this before? It seems rather strange to me.

try reinstalling halflife and then esf again

After you get back into the main menu. Open the console and copy what it says.
