The thing is that's not that bad of a FPS
I'd advise turning down as many settings as you can and turning off all of the backround programs

That FPS is really playable, but if you really want to get 100, you can always try playing in a lower resolution, and turning off graphical eye-candy effects.
Other than that, maybe get a new gfx card, but you shouldn't have to for a while longer unless you can't stand getting under 100 fps.

can a 2.4 precessor handle 100 fps? My brothers computer can't and he has a 2.6.
Edit: just skip this post, just realized hes using geo 2 so of course he cant get 100 fps. Is there a delete button any where around here?

yes there is a delete button ... just in the edit menu, which which you already had been

the FPS count isn't based on the CPU you have ... more on the GPU you have
GF4Ti 4200 isn't a bad chip ... but 100 fps in ESF ??? think won't be such easy ...
just run in 800*600 ... be sure that your shorcut doesn't have a "-32bpp" inside
run in OpenGL
and following commands in console:
cl_fxquality 0
cl_beamquality 0
cl_dusttrails 0
fps_max 120

if you've got 60 fps constant ... your OS isn't fixed from the 60Hz-bug ... search in internet for a programm called "Reforce" ... this fixes this bug

then tell me how much fps you get (if your screen supports 100 fps)

it looks to your screen frequenzy and make syncrones you fps with it ... so every new screen picture should be a new game picture ...
if you turn it off, you can get 100 fps in game, but your screen shows only 60 of them ...
I hope I could explain it with my crappy english :)

Hmm, I had 100 FPS for like a day, on every map. Now it's back to 60 FPS again, and no idea where it went. I even drop to 30 FPS fairly easily again now. Specs:

P4 (2,4 Ghz)
GeForce FX 5600 (128MB)
512 MB RAM
17" Monitor (85Hz Refresh Rate)

If I could run 100 FPS before, it should be able to get that again right..?
(PS: The 100 FPS was in an online game, so I don't understand why it dropped this drastically again now) Can anyone clear that up?

You can't get a faster framerate than the vsync of your monitor. Most monitors show you the vsync (the thing before Hz) when you turn on their menu. Try that when running halflife. If your fps is the same as your vsync, you're running at the maximum framerate possible.

the great coder answered to such a thread ... ;)

I've to tell you, that you should have read the other posts, too ;)
I explaind it already ... but you can turn vsync off ... this just means the game sucks more performance, but nothing changes (just the fps count) ... how else would I get 300fps in Q3 ??? ;)

I also said that Win2k and WinXP have an annoying 60Hz-Bug ... if you're running a game, the OS set your screen refresh-rate to 60Hz (lowest)
contact me (anyhow) and I can send you a lil tool which fixes this damn bug (it tells windows that the screen can only run in his highest Hz)
