Finally got the game but can't run it please help

When I try to start the game it says I have a missing shortcut and my computer trys to find cstrike.exe can anyone help me with this problem?

You need a retail version of Half Life. RETAIL. NOT DOWNLOADED. Then ESF will work.

Well, you might just have also installed it into the wrong directory and when you run it, it cannot find the Cstrike EXE. Generally the Cstrike EXE is in the following:

C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike or C:\Sierra\Half-Life (then it's the HL.exe)

Ok I can now veiw the main menu of ESF but it isn't letting me start a game.

I get to the main menu see everything except start new game.

ESF is a multiplayer only so you cannot start a new game you must go multiplayer-lan games-sort everything out-done and wvholla

salutations.

Okay I clicked on multiplayer then went to LAN and tryed to create a game it started to go then I got this error message, Mod_NumForName:sprites/voiceicon.spr not found, I don't understand why I can't get this to run and i'm starting to wonder if this game is worth the trouble?
