Even more problems then before.

Allright, I posted about 3 days ago, and I'm back to say things have gotten worse.

I've installed a fresh copy of Half-life. I updated it to 1.1.1.0. I then installed ESF(213MB one.)

When I use the shortcut, it says the steam.exe was not found. So then i just directed it to hl.exe, which gave me an esf interface, but was really Half-life. I've tried redirecting it to ESF... (C: \Program Files\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe" +game esf) and that doesnt load ESF automatically. So then i just opened up the Hl.exe and go into custom game; half the time ESF doesn't even show up. When it does, the resolution is set to 640x480 and it ends up being incrediablly laggy, and when I turn the resolution up, it just ignores it and contiunes to run at 640x480. My computer is well equipped to play ESF, I played the first one flawlessly.

I guess I don't understand the difference between Steam and WON version of ESF, and which .exe file was different, -213MB one which i have, or the smaller one. I assume i have the Steam version, as it was looking for steam.exe. All i want to do is play it via lan with friends, not on the internet. So, I ask you people, what the hell do i do?

Argghh, but I don't want to play on-line. Only LAN, which i could do with ESF v1.1.

Install it to WON then use this shortcut to play.

C:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game esf

Hopefully you ran HL once before installing ESF so all the files were moved properly.

Dang it is not working. Ok, this is what I'm doing now. I install half-life. I update to 1.1.1.0. I run hl.exe once. Then I install the WON version of ESF. Double click the icon. It loads the ESF mod, but when i go to create game in lan, it shows the list of Half-life maps. If i start Hl.exe then open esf mod, when i start the game, the graphics are really messed up and half the stuff doesnt show up....

Goku_ssj_Uk ... i input the target as you said ... C: \Program Files\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game esf as you said,(i put into program files) and it doesnt work. However If i put it as ... "C: \Program Files\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game esf" with quotations it will accept it and load, but it will do the same thing. Have an ESF interface, but want to load the Half-life levels. And if i go through hl.exe, the games graphics are really bad, and half the stuff doesnt show up. I believe when it does it, it's running it under 640x400 resolution, which I can't make it change.

im having the same problem with mine. i went to the help on the irc the best they could tell me was to run hl then install the mod. when i asked them was there any fix's for the start up icon the best they could tell me there where none so i feel your pain

You could try reinstalling ESF from after you update HL.

The other thing you could do, is go to Custom Game menu and activate it from there.

C:\Program Files\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game esf

If that doesnt work, try reinstalling ESF.

You might have Steam, if so your link would be...

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\email\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game esf

Or

C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe -applaunch 70 -game esf
