Heh, 4 words. "I don't think so", why? Playing without steam is illegal. So that's something the team would never do. If they really want to play Earth Special Forces, then they would buy Half-Life / CS v1.6. ESF Without steam = a big no no.

Also ESF is a multiplayer mod. And you cant play online without STEAM.

also making it work with the old "WON" system CS would be alot of extra work for the team because they are different systems.
And because it's different the testers would need to test everything on won too.

There's no way you can play ESF with WON anymore. WON no longer exists, it was shutdown last year after Steam was released.

WON was actually revived by a comapny in the form of WON2 sometime last year. There was a patch for the WON version of half-life that made use of the WON2 network, however this has proved very unpopular as everyone is using steam now anyway. there is hardly anyone to paly with aswell from what I here from people who have used the network once or twice as steam has a much bigger player bass for Valve's games + mods.

I have WON, I don't think it's actually illegal, I have a lega hafl life, I have a steam and non steam version. What I did is install the halflife normally with steam, then on another computer I installed it in it's own directory, so it's not updated or it doesn't work with steam, so then it just uses WON, so I install esf under it and then just copy and paste it over to the pc with steam too, so I have 2 esf's.

But yeah, steam is probably better in some ways.
