So EA acquired exclusive rights to publish all Star-Wars games

I'm not an EA hater but this can't be good

http://au.ign.com/articles/2013/05/06/ea-acquires-star-wars-game-license

According to the announcement, EA "will develop and publish new Star Wars titles for a core gaming audience, spanning all interactive platforms and the most popular game genres, while Disney will retain certain rights to develop new titles within the mobile, social, tablet and online game categories."

Anyone who secured the rights would probably have been a bad choice. The walking dead game made by activision was one of the worst games ever made.

It's not like any good Star Wars games were released recently anyway. I don't see how it can get much worse.

Yeah, I'm with-holding judgement on that. EA hasn't been terrible, other than the always-online bullshit. If they get the right people on it, I can see them making a good Battlefront game. That depends on whether or not they realize that Battlefront is gonna be their wallet opener to the consumers. Or at least that ******* 1313 game or whatever it was. That was looking really damn cool. That's also assuming they don't just throw the unfinished version out into market in a desperate bid to make a few bucks off the namesake.

I still find it hilarious that they were voted worst company and found the presidents reaction to it even more amusing.

EA owns DICE, and that technology. Now imagine the possibilities of a Star Wars on Frostbite 3? Going with EA has huge potential, but the most probable outcome is that EA will fumble and turn Star Wars into a quick cash cow without passion!

EA announced Sims 4 as offline capable, They must have learnt from Sim City

They aren't all bad, But I guess we all find faults with most publishers

I knew it! So obvious! Well star wars was in the shit as it was with Lucasarts. Now... well... now, please let Bioware make a NOT MMO Star wars Game! One that actually would properly focus on lightsaber combat, something that has just seemingly been refused to be done since the freaking jedi knight II games.

I ******* love Ewoks. I got two Ewok stuffed animals somewhere, they're awesome.

The only good thing about this move is that they can use the Battlefield engine and game mechanics to make Battlefront 3. I personally didn't really like the first 2 Battlefront games, and to be honest I only played through some of Battlefield 3 campaign, but if they can get a Star Wars game to look like the upcoming Battlefield 4 and have it play just as good, that's gold to me right there. If EA hands Battlefront 3 over to DICE and let them have free reign over the development then I think results will be very positive. I mean Battle Field 3 is almost 2 years and people are still playing the shit out of it. And Battlefield 4 looks like it's going to play just about the same, but with kick-ass next-gen graphics, add Star Wars into the mix and you have a winner.

Just give me a legit successor to X-Wing Alliance. Or just put XWA on steam and make it like compatible with xbox controllers.

Dice has huge SW battlefront 3 potential, and remember that one of those big 3 studios within EA was in fact responsible for the original KOTOR. So you might not want to throw the franchise out quite yet.

If you're referring to Bioware, they do have potential to deliver but EA will be calling the shots and likely control how the game would end up. I won't hold my breath, because from what I heard Bioware lost some good people in the recent years.

It is funny how EA actively hurts itself. Their games artistic value is zero and they still produce games that cost them a lot of money. Just flatten out the company, get good original people. Assassin's creed was a great new concept, so was bioshock.

What I am really pissed though is how people STILL buy their games and then complain.

For one, I like EA's games. I still play Battlefield 3 and played Mass Effect 2 AND 3 a hell of a lot (singleplayer only). Also, it seems that EA isn't all that bad if you look on the Battlefield 3 forums you can see a few employee's talking in detail about how they interpret EA and how well they think the team did on the game. The answers they give are intelligent and thought through that you couldn't tell that they were lying because it actually made sense.

Some posts were even more than 500 words and included many details about their Frostbite 2 engine and the capabilities of their team. I'm not saying there aren't any problems with EA at all, everyone company has them. But EA just seems at least an average type.

Conlusion: I still buy their games and I DO like them.

Conspiracy theory: Or so they cleverly fooled you into believing.
Example:"Hi I work for EA, and I am very happy here!"
*slips a note* * you read it* Note:"Get me out of here!"

Anyway terrible jokes aside, I do like EA in some weird ridiculous ways. But the fact that you can see them fall so far and barely learn anything from their mistakes is just depressing. And I'll even make another prediction: They are going to 100% certain keep up with the bullshit milking for money they are known for, especially now that they've got their hands on Star Wars, because I have no doubt that they are fully aware how desperate star wars fans are right now for new star wars games, and how willing they are going to be to being milked.

Battlefront fanboys especially, my god are they going to be easy as ****s to lure into all sorts of traps, especially since it seems that most people that love battlefront just seem to flat out ignore the problems that those games had.

I wouldn't blame them though. In my case I would be fooled by a star wars that focuses on making proper lightsaber battles. I know both force unleashed games did...
