Instead of the world filled with ESFn00bs why not use their steam name instead?

Simple yet effective.

Why can't you just easily change your name in a matter of seconds in the options menu?

Exactly geez, don't make a big deal out of things that can be solved easily. Also, ESFn00b usually signifies the fact that the person is new and therefore can be taught :).

What if people really don't want their steam name to be shown, and were expecting a name like "Player" or "ESFn00b"?

On second thoughts; seeing as only n00bs forget to change their name, make it so the default name = steam name + password too!
That would make them learn faster... :D

Every mod has their own "default" name. It's always been ESFN00b....maybe occasionally harsens.

How is this a suggestion for ESF? It's not difficult to go into the "options" menu and change the default name to something of your choosing. You can even change your name in-game through the console by typing "name [insert name]", or if you want to be really lazy, just bind different names to your numpad.

Well ESF-world and a couple of other servers have a pluggin that changes the name of every person that joins as ESFn00b into a name from the database.

Thank you everyone for your helpful comments especially Sub. And no, I use my name in-game.

But seriously, it could work, even without putting the password into the name.

Guzzie, you are usually right but I meet good players who hide the fact they are good (the 3 hit melee gives it away).
