If they do this in later episodes don't tell me :D

Why does Vegeta's son, the little trunks have no tail? Removed after birth? FIRST, why would Vegeta agree with that? I'm sure he would stop them.

Second, when they have a tail (I haven't seen all this so if I'm wrong wait with telling me :D ) why won't they first go SSJ and then use Kakarots dads way to go ape. A SSJ Ape. Cool.

Third, Vegeta was a kid in the time of Frieza killing all saiyins. We saw in the episodes. (I think it was the frieza saga) So how could he have known about running into probs on a planet and that they needed to do kakarots dads trick. (he says in Saiyin saga) Do there kids also fight wars? (ok, the babies do. :D )

Still a bit weird.
For tailess Trunks, I could definately see Bulma removing it when Vegeta wasn't looking. Plus Vegeta was acting all "I don't care about Trunks I'm so bad" so if he meant it?

The SSJ apeness: I believe SSJ4 is turning into a funky ape-kinda thing, but I'm not sure.

Vegeta and Bardock's moon trick: It's kinda wierd. Firstly, if you go by the Bardock saga, Vegeta was young but was already quite an able fighter before Frieza destroyed planet Vegeta. Vegeta was taking out Sabaimen (sp??, those little guys Nappa sent after the gang that killed Yamcha with a suicide attack) like they were nothing, and complaining "I want Frieza to give me another assignment - I'll never get stronger here."

However, going by the Bardock special, Bardock just seemed like a particularily determined low-class warrior. He wasn't smart, or too naturally powerful, but he did push himself to the limit in every battle he was in. Nothing suggests he was a scientist at all. But in DBZ, Vegeta told Goku "Your father was an average figher Kakarott, but he was an brilliant (thanks D.C. Darkling) scientist. Yadda yadda made these fake moon balls."

The thing I never understood was powering up..

For instance, when Vegeta and Nappa were just begining to flex their muscles they created waves of energy that were playing havoc with all electrical systems. But on Namek Vegeta was at that level many times and rarely made such a disturbance.

During the Cell Games, Goku and Cell were a million times stronger but there was barely a large tremor through most of their fight and the cameras weren't even affected. It was only when Gohan and Cell were powering up their attacks that the Earth was really shuddering.

Then in the Buu Saga Goku went SSJ3, something that, going by the amount of trouble caused by Vegeta powering up in the Saiya-Jin saga and Gohan's SSJ2 Kamehameha, should have destroyed the planet completely. But it didn't and thats as far as I have gotten in the series...

Heres my theory, Akira Toriama (SP) works on a basis of when the show ends. Every time he believes he is reaching the end of series, the affect of the warriors power becomes Earth shaking. But, as soon as he starts a new saga, he bumps it back to the begining, building up gradually once more until he reaches what he believes to be the end of the series.

Er, Nappa's a show-off?

Well, one can justify Goku's SSJ 3 transformation not being earth-shattering by the fact that Goku, caring guy that he is, would not want to create earthquakes resulting in millions of dollars of damage just to buff himself up.

Part of it seems to be desire, I guess. I mean, Vegeta could easily destroy a planet since he first arrives on DBZ. Yet he can shoot blasts so destructive they take everything out of him and still leave the planet with nothing but a huge crater. Seems context is involved, I guess?

Yeah, lame compensation. :S

I don't think it was a solar flare. The Masenko may have created some light, tho, it is an energy attack, and coming from a super saiyan..... :)

first...
when powering up i believe its the persons ability to control the power that determines how much energy is released (or wasted) in the form of earth shaking, sparks, etc, etc... e.g. in the cell saga they saved energy by staying in their SSJ form so if it takes energy to change to SSJ then the energy must go somewhere.

second...
i think trunks doesnt have a tail because hes half human, but then again gohan was half human and he had a tail maybe the animators just though it wasnt liable to keep it in...im not sure but i think they grow a tail in SSJ4

third...
this is a temporal question so watch it. How come buu is nvr in (adult) trunks present, they death of cell didnt effect wheather or not babadi came to earth so in trunks time buu should have been there or maybe not since gohan or any of the fighters left did not have enough power to resurect buu. anyways anwser that!

this is a big thread with lots of long answers :]
