Crashing

Ok here is my problem first i will tell u wat on and how my game is run
-----CPU-----
Brand new
2.4 ghz athlon
512 mb ram
64mb graphics card (i think its a raideon 7000)
windows XP service pack 1
monitor resolution 1024 x 768
-----GAME-----
opengl
1024 x 768
steam and won crashing happens on both
on steam i got the steam pack but like i sed it dosnt matter weather i have it or not it happens on both

ok im playing the game its fine i can play sometimes for 4 hours maybe 1 and sometimes 5 minutes, but im playing i could be doing absolutely anything typing, attacking, powering up and my pc wqill just reset no warnings no error messages and theres absolutely no pattern to why its happening. Ive tried different things uninstalling evm and eea, uninstalling and reinstalling esf uninstalling and reinstalling steam. But it still does it does anyone have this problem aswell if so post so that the esf team know that this is a well known problem and this needs a fix quickly and if you have a solution can you please tell me it because im seriously thinking of stopping to play this !

the same happen to me 2..... sometimes i need 3try to start the game. and then ingame its quit without warning or something

If it's actually turning off, that's pretty strange. The last time I saw a computer do that was when I was at my friends house... he had a damaged stick of ram.

That's happened on mine too, but it was because I forgot to plug my CPU fan back in. >_>

Does just running STEAM cause your computer to randomly reboot?

nope counter strike 1.6 has no problem day of defeat - steam has no problem only the esf does its the same with my standard half life version(won) although ur damadged ram thing might bethe problem but wouldnt that be for all of them? i say this because when the pc was put together you could only have the 512mb ram stick in slot 1 with no other ram or it wouldnt work (i had 2 sticks of 128 aswell)

i used to get random freezes. sometimes it would just go to the desktop. SOMETIMES OpenGL is the problem if your computer is as up-to-date as you say it is. try running it in software mode (even tho it sucks) or try direct3d. OpenGL can be a pain to work with sometimes. but after a while it slows down and you rearly encounter it. also make sure all of your settings are correct for esf as well as your computer.

A bad powersource could be the culprit . . . if it's producing "noisy" power, it can disrupt your system, cause data corruption, and even send a "power good: false" to your motherboard. Try to run other hardware intensive programs, see if you can cause similar instability.

As kurt said, cheap ram can cause those problems as well. I recently had that problem.

hmm ok what u meen by noisy power if u meen u can hear the pc running i always here that even when its doing nothing i thought that was the fan :| if not explain and what do you meen by "hardware" intensive programs

i have same problem i will play the game for a few hours then bam it kick's me to a error with my hl.exe i tried every thing i evan replaced all the hardware in my pc

Ok i just played sven coop on my pc and the same thing happened again my screen just went black and it reset

ok it just happened on the specialists aswell it never used to happen on the specialists since esf so im uninstalling it hope its fixed in esf 1.2 HINT: tell the team to do it
