Contrast/Brightness Adjustment

All I want to do is adjust the contrast on a picture... but don't have adobe photoshop or any other program to do it. Is there any freeware/shareware downloadable program that will let me adjust the contrast?

Get the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) - http://www.gimp.org/

Not the most versatile program but it works well enough and it's free.
