I am a computer nerd and therefore interested in everything involving computers including programming and the likes. I would like to learn how to code for esf, anyone wanna teach me?

Thanks to all in advance!

Learn C and C++ like the back of your hand. Then you'll probably have the neccesary skills.

and as with any language, it is easiest taught with the person physically teaching it to you. it's near impossible to learn over the internet, let alone having somebody tutor you. Try and see if there are classes available in your area to teach you.

Classes are best, but there are books which you can learn from as well.
I have a few, and they do the job, but not as good as a course.
Try looking on the internet for C++ books. Most of the time you can get them for much cheaper than buying them from a store.

Wow, it is weird to look back on this. I don't even remember wanting to code back then.

Well, I ended up going to the Southern Methodist University and got a degree in Computer Science on the Gaming Track. C++ and IA32 x86 ASM ftw!

Crazy how things work out...

I guess he does, but this isn't a real "bad" case of reviving dead threads ^^

Actually, this is great. It's really funny too see you (tonjohn) ask for help on coding, and 5 years later, you graduated in Computer Science. It really is crazy how things turn out.

And I must say, I admire your determination. Few people come in here saying, "Please teach me how to code" and actually learn to code, let alone graduate at it.

He got his degree in computer science if I'm not mistaken. I don't think anyone taught him over the net.

Heck no! If someone told me what books to buy, I could have learned some good stuff but nothing to the extent that I now know.

Well, you can't code for ESF unless the dev team wants you to. That aside, ESF is in C++, not C.

The Half-Life SDK is what you're looking for.
