cant get in servers

i cant get in any servers.iv never played againt other people cause iv been practising on bots.but i just tryed 2 connect and it said ur cd key cant b used on valve system or something. can any1 help me ??????

i bought the game i seen it in another thread ages ago that this happened 2 sum1 and they sed they downloaded somethin and it worked.buty they didnt say what they downloaded

well u sure someone isn't using ur cd key??

try sending a private message to the person that had the problem. while u wait for a real reply here

i was on i was finally online!!!!but then the server had an error in it and every1 got kiked out!now i cant get back in any of them:cry: :cry: :cry: some of them say cant open then whatever the server is called.and some say about the cd key still.how do u change ur c.d key???ill try and enter it again to c if it works

well there are 2 ways there is regedit or just uninstall and reinstall hl. the most important thing is if someone is using ur cd key and u do have a legual copy of the game u can try contacting valve for a replacement cd key(u will most likely be required to send in ur copy of hl to them) anyway it doesnt sound like someone is using ur cdkey it just soulds like u entered an invalid cdkey.

The second thing is someone might have copied the key you use from the store. That could be the reason why your key isn't working.

Go into your Half-Life folder (Default is C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\) find a folder called auth, delete it. Also in the Half-Life folder there is a file called favsvrs.dat rename it (favsvrs.bak) or delete it ~ I recommend backing it up if you have alot of favorite servers and if you play CS. Then go to START > Find > Files / Folders and search your hard drive for custom.hpk delete all that you find, then search for custom.hp2 and delete all of them aswell.

Reboot and try playing.

lol that contains ur key information and the second one contains ur server list. . . deleting the auth file should fix the problem just run the game after u delele the file. u will be asked to enter in the cd key it will be allot easier to do this than use regedit. trust me btw i have never done it that way but it seems logical

well here is the thing there was nothing in the auth folder when i deleted it!and it didnt ask for a cd key ahhhhhh its messed up :cry: :cry: :cry:
