Cannot obtain WON Authentication??

What does Could not obtain WON Authentication mean?

I cant join some servers because of that. (theres only 3 servers on right now and I couldnt get into any of them because of that).

Well, my guess is u either didn't buy HL or u bought it and let someone else use ure CD Key!! So if u didnt buy, go buy it!! If u bought it and ure friend is using ure CD-Key, tell him not to!! Simple as that!!

if your telling the truth its likely that people have gotten lucky and guessed your key or your friends saw it on your case a memorized it

hey, could be a bug...but have noticed, on a map change I get kicked out of my dedicated server and when I try to reconnect, I get this message. Could be that it wasn't a clean exit from the game and WON believes your still logged int. I try to connect to my TFC server and I get the same message. But over time or a reboot (socket disconnect), I can get in just fine.

But..If I was a betting man...I'd put my money on the fact that he probably gave out his cd key, but he doensn't want to admit it..

A crack could have randomly generated a CD Key that belonged to you. Contact Valve and get a new CD & key. Dig up you proof of purchase.

i didnt give it away, im sure its the crack though or some bug. I can ask for another one..i just cant find that friggen half life box for PoP

This is not to do with the CD key being in use or invalid (in those cases it would say "CD-key currently in use" or "invalid CD key").
Try restarting your ADSL router if you use 1 or simply restarting your computer. If that doesn't work re-install Half-Life and esforces, if that doesn't help contact VALVe tech support & if u r lucky (sif) they may reply.

No, actually, that does have something to do with ure CD-Key being in use!! That is usually said in the console, then it closes and a little box pops up stating, CD-Key already in use!!

no, that's not exactly same thing... similar but not the same... this problem can be caused by many things... most frequently but incorrect/corrupted DNS settings or firewalls (ie. not being able to connect to won.net)
