I've got an idea... how about a melee meter? If somebody uses melee, say, 14,000 times on the same map, he should break an arm. That would fix all the melee issues, since the issue doesn't seem to be blocking, it seems to be attacking. Now I don't mind the use of melee in ESF, I do it myself pretty often. However, I have to leave servers after 2 solid maps of 2 on 1 melee, without a single beam fired. Beams are a big part of what makes up Dragonball Z, and until the melee system becomes a little more advanced, we should give people a better chance of actually getting a beam off. I don't mind if half a guy's kills are from melee, because I think melee is fun when it's one on one. Right now though, the guy with the lower ping and teleport bound to right click isn't required to touch any attacks other than melee to ruin the map for the player of his choice. I can't see what the problem is with blocking, whether it be melee or block struggles. It is too easy for the beam user to come out on top of a block struggle as things are right now; even a guy with half his opponents power level. Odds are the guy will be backed up into a wall before he sends the attack back on most maps. As for melee on melee, blocking is necessary, and you can't say anything different. You try playing on one of the public servers without blocking. See how annoying melee gets when you have two guys following you around without giving you room to breath. Learn how to teleport if you don't like it, damnit. Don't give me this "DMZ has true teleport" crap. I've played ESF, and I can teleport through people and beams. I often accidentally teleport through people in melee because I'm pressing the wrong key, which usually gets me hit while I try to turn around. ESF's teleport is also a hell of a lot more user-friendly than DMZ as well, which currently only supports a toggle mode. All people seem to do in DMZ is to hyper-punch and then melee you to nothing anyhow, which is about as far from DBZ as I've seen in a modification so far. ESF is on top in the melee department at the moment in my oppinion. On a seperate note, it isn't teleportation, it's just moving so fast as not to be seen. You can't zanzoken across the United States, you'd run out of stamina.
Detonating your beams leaves a bad taste in my mouth when it's overused, like anything that is repeatedly overused. This is especially distasteful when it comes to power attacks like the kamehameha, which has a rediculous blast radius, and could easily kill the guy who might have thrown it back at the user.
