Personally, I'm not that crappy without my swoop script. I can take it off, play 6 hours and im used to it. the only difference is that my finger will hurt from double tapping, which it wont by scripting. I don't like to play a game that makes my finger hurt, so that i can only play like 1 hour at a time. With the script i can play 6 hours straight ( if i wont get bored).

The fact is that you lose to pros who are not scrtpting as well. It's not like you can only lose to scripters. you get beaten no matter what, and then the easiest thing to do is blame those who have a script.

if scripters decided not to script you would be beaten up again after they spend a day getting used to double tapping again. And then i suppose you will ban any1 who is better than you, from your server? Most likely.

Interresting logic, but I don't think it's that simple. It depends on the player's style on how fast he will be able to recover, if he ever can. For instance, if all you do is dodge attacks and hit them when they're not looking or charging up, it's easier to get used to double tapping again than when you're an offensive styled player.

Putting that aside, a good player with scripts will be a good player without. Skills can be developed and expanded if neccesary, though you will probably notice a few differences in his new style. Regardless, it's pretty easy to tell whether someone is a good player even if he uses a script.

People tend to go 'what-if' when things aren't going as they expected. 'What if he didn't script, I'd probably pwn him roflolol', tho this might be case, it would have to mean that their fight was a close one already. In such a case it might very well be possible that the script gave the upperhand. In most cases it's not that way tho, people just lose in some horrifying way and easily blame it on a script or the script if the guy admits it. If he would then try to prove he can do without, he'd probably suck only supporting the idea of being unable to play effectively without scripting. Well duh, if you change your keyboard layout (even if it is just a little) you will notice yourself playing bad for quite some time (provided you used that setup for a long time). Like toxen said, it will take time for you to get used to the new setup and even then your playstyle will be different but might be just as effective (or not).

My point is, scripting in esf is not that super-effective as some might think. On the other hand scripts are made for comfort and will always allow players with knowledge of scripting to get the most out of it so it's up to the game/mod to restrict such behaviour so that the effeciency of scripts will remain as little as possible. Putting the blame on scripts is the easiest way out and in most cases it's simply not true.

The problem will probably always exist, public servers will always have scripters as long there is a use for them, it's up to those users whether or not they'll do something about the scripts. Banning them would be a bit harsh (unless they voilate other rules), but blocking scripts would simply be the best option. Until such a thing comes along (that actually works well with ESF), I think there is not much that can be done about it except taking matter into your own hand.

An intelligent and well written post! *Swoon*

Anyways, yes, I agree. Cheat scripting in ESF doesn't give the advantages it would in say, Counter-Strike or The Specialists where people can use rapid fire scripts or a script to reduce or eliminate recoil.
